The rattan is light and is will absorb impact. We select the best and only send out the sizes that meet our specs. Rattan is apx. 3/4" x 36" long. These are typically used for more intense bouting and those wanting quicker blade work.
I've purchased a large number of rattan over the years for my club and for the Green Chapel tournament. I've always been happy with Purpleheart and it is fun when they start smelling like smoke!

Good Singlestick
This is a good sturdy singlestick which was the right size for my purposes (broadsword training) and was shipped very fast. I’m fairly new to HEMA so I don’t know exactly what’s normal, but my stick seemed a little top-heavy in the “blade� compared to others I’ve encountered. It’s still very useable and an acceptable weight though.
