Gymnasium Sabre make for Purpleheart Armoury by VB in Hungary.


V5 - Reduced Weight with new grip and thinner guard. From 830g to 635g
V3 - The grip and nut are all glued in place. So the swords can't come apart now, but does not come loose either. Fuller is removed to keep strength in the thinner blade.
V2 - Thicker guard, better handle, leather wrap handle. New pommel design.

Designed for practice in accordance to John Musgrave Waite book, Lessons in Saber, Singlestick, Saber, and Bayonet.

I am rather disappoint with the quality
I noticed while doing some cutting drills that there is a twist and a bend in the blade. It seems to bow towards the left causing the tip to be off center and the spine of the blade seems to be rotated towards the right on the ladder half of the blade. They don't look very significant but the have a noticeable impact on the balance and handling often causing the sword to rotate in my hand mid swin

Good budget sabre
Probably the most reliable beater sword on the market at the moment. It doesn't handle as nicely as a castille but at least it's affordable. I don't see replacement blades listed anywhere on the website, so I'm a little worried for when I inevitably break this blade. Hopefully PHA keeps some in stock and ready to ship.

It's ok
Here is my perspective. It's well made and sturdy, but the grip needs a redesign, if your using correct saber technique. It's obviously designed for gloves and a hammer grip. Otherwise im happy with it

Shockingly good sword
Given the price point, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This sword is well balanced, handles very smoothly, and can fit gloves like red dragon saber gloves very well. The balance is very nice. The blade bends well, handles abuse, and I've had several mixed bouts with full contact saber versus longsword with no issues. The only thing I don't love about it is the gr

Good sword, great price!
Honestly this was my second choice in sabers, but my more fancy and more expensive saber got lost in the mail after waiting almost 5 months. Enter the VB gym saber!
