Side sword TSG HF-Armory
Side sword TSG HF-Armory is a modern stylization of medieval Bologna swords, for training and tournaments in historical fencing. Designed in collaboration with experienced fencers from the Triangle Sword Guild Club.
The Side sword TSG HF-Armory is a weapon that was popular in northern Italy (not only in Bologna), in the XVI- XVII centuries. This is the next stage in the development of the one-handed sword, when the sword is carried not only in war but also in everyday life, as an element of a suit and a weapon of self-defense.
The characteristic features of the Side sword TSG HF-Armory are:
– very short handle, the weapon is held by an overguard, it is difficult to take the sword with a normal grip
– rather massive finial, for better balance
– well-developed guard, with rings – to protect the fingers when gripping the overguard. But at the same time, the cup-type guards characteristic of the Spanish rapier are not found on Bolognese swords.
– a fairly short blade, convenient for delivering thrust and blows.
– low weight.
It is equally suitable for right-handers and left-handers.
