Smatchet Trainer

The size and weight of these trainers are perfect.

I found this to be is a surprisingly good approximation of my Boker combat smatchets. Highly recommended.

This is an effective Smatchet trainer. It is made of a very strong polymer/plastic. The dimensions of the trainer are basically identical to that of my Smatchet live blade from Windlass Steelcrafts however the trainer is much lighter. The Windlass Smatchet was built to the original dimensions of the blade created by William E. Fairbairn. I cannot speak to the Boker or Cold steel models. I am able to deliver full powered stabs and slashes on a solid 150 pound Outslayer heavy bag. Upon the first week of use noticed the slightest bend in the trainer (only noticeable under careful observation), it is strong and stiff and you do not feel any flex when striking. It has not bent any further during several months of use. I prefer aluminium trainers that are slightly shorter and heavier than their respective live blades, but they are usually much more expensive than polymer. This is really the only legitimate Smatchet trainer on the market and it is excellent for the price.

You'll never find a smatchet trainer on this earth which comes close in terms of heft. Shape and size are excellent for technique development, paracord grip is very well done.
