Love the old-timely look of leather instead of plastic. The hand protection is great - do not forget that you need wrist and elbow protection as well, though!

I didn't even know you could harden leather that much. I'm very impressed with how strong it is, it's like having a steel hilt almost. My only minor criticism is more of a personal/discipline specific issue, because I mainly practice Italian sabre and I understand these are meant for practicing English systems, but the back end of the basket does dig into the wrist on extension, making certain cut
