Red Dragon HEMA Gloves

Red Dragon weapon sparring gloves are at the forefront of affordable hand protection for weapons based martial arts. They were developed in conjunction with the HEMA community and contain many features only seen on gloves retailing at more than twice the price.

The gloves were developed form protection against synthetic sparring weapons but are used by many for sparring with (blunt) steel weapons as well. They are without a doubt the best sparring gloves in this price range by far.

See Sizing tab for more information.
Features
  • The overlapping plastic finger plates ensure that the chance of a weapon making contact with your fingers is kept to a minimum while providing maximum mobility.
  • The combination of plastic protective plates (4mm thick) and high impact shock absorbing foam (up to 10mm thick) provide a high level of protection from many types of blunt weapons typically used by martial artists.
  • The tough microfiber outer material provides long lasting protection and a level of durability not seen in traditional synthetic lather coverings.
  • The SPES fingertips, DO NOT fit in these gloves.

4 of 5 Well Worth the Price January 12, 2021
Reviewer: Daniel from TN
For reference, I've used these gloves for about 8 months now, training 3-4 times a week at two HEMA clubs.

They are stiff at first, but after about a week I broke them in and they were surprisingly flexible afterwards. I've taken multiple direct hits on my fingers, wrists and hands, no bruises or injuries (although the impact on the hands and fingers were quite painful). I haven't experienced any fraying or tears, they are still in good condition. My only complaint is that they aren't quite flexible enough for me to effectively pull off some grappling techniques from Fiore's Armizare, but that is a miniscule gripe.

2 of 5 Durability Issues April 7, 2018
Reviewer: James Stamper from Eau Claire, WI
On 10/22/17, I purchased these for my son.  On average, we train 2 times per week.  Last night, 4/6/18, the stitching on the right glove came out from the knuckles to the end of the index finger.  This seems to be a rather short life for a pair of protective gloves.

These gloves do exactly what they where designed to due and make light to medium sparring and palcaty  fun and worry free for your hands. Even with out being broken in, they give you incredible dexterity. My sparring partners are investing in some soon.
