Historical Information HERE.

This series of staves are made with 2 layers of impact grade hickory laminated together to form a strong, straight and defect free staff. This is the best wood possible for martial arts use. The hickory is strong, yet it is flexible to not be brittle when struck against other equipment. We hand oil at least 2 coat of a boiled linseed/mineral spirits mixture.

5 of 5 Hickory Rules: the hickory staff April 28, 2021

This is a nice staff. This length and diameter work well for me. I use my staffs for walking. Not on a city sidewalk but on rougher terrain. Not mountains but what ever is available in Dallas County Texas.

5 of 5 Excellent staff. Still need to sand and oil September 12, 2020
Reviewer: Ray Ambrosi from Regina, SK Canada
We are very impressed with the staff.
Its difficult to find high-quality hardwood staffs for martial arts training. Hickory is widely lauded as the best.

However, I will still need to sand and oil the staff before use. The surface is not as smooth as I would like it. There may be a slight danger of splinters until it is properly finished

3 of 5 Slight Imperfection, But Still Good November 25, 2019
Reviewer: Hugh Knight from Riverside, CA United States
We ordered two staves.  There's little to say about simple wooden shafts, but the quality was generally excellent, as is normally the case.  On one staff the lamination was very slightly misaligned so that you can feel the edges of the pieces where they were joined together, but this is a minor issue, and not worth returning.  A few minutes with sand paper will clean that up so it isn't noticeable.
