These are just a general size guidelines. The chest protector wraps around your chest, so you can vary from the dimension shown and it will just open up a bit more. If you are tall, use the #2, if your chest is short, use the #1.

It does the job.
It is what it is. Good coverage, but obviously restricts breathing a bit. Does it's job.
