Ottoman Kilij/Pala Trainer, Separate Guard

I acquired a Turkish made Kilij in December. It’s a nicely made, full-size blade, but a bit heavy and cumbersome for some of our newer and smaller members. Discovering that Purpleheart Armoury carries training version, I immediately ordered one and received it very quickly. We are finding that this training Kilij is the perfect substitute for introducing our beginners to the use of this interest

The sword i ordered is better than i expected.

I got the Shamshir basic trainer a while back and enjoy using it. This one feels a bit heavier in comparison, but that is expected since the blade is thicker. It’s fun to use and the extra curve can get you with a thrust if you’re not used to it. I will say the end of the blade doesn’t look two sided like in the picture. For the study of Ottoman Martial Arts this is an excellent trainer! The weight and balance are perfect, the design is sleek. Excellent draw cut trainer too
