1-1/16"Octagon x6' hickory Spear (OAL is about 6'6") with PHA Rubber Spear tip, and a flat blunt on the Butt End. The flat blunt is only to protect gym floors.

The spear is one of the oldest and most universal weapons known to mankind. Used in hunting and in war, this tool has many variations across time and cultures. In European tradition, spears were typically 6-8 feet long, though longer spears were also used -- up to 12 feet, or the more specialized pike at a length of 16-20 feet.
Many spears had an iron buttspike on the reverse end. When receiving cavalry charges, spearmen would use the spike to anchor the weapon in the ground.
Purpleheart spears use the same highest quality staves as our other staff products. We typically offer 6-8 foot shaft lengths. Our PHA Spear Tip is not only a visually accurate training tool, but also provides considerable flex and impact absorption on a thrust. This allows for greater training safety, though armor and protective gear are still required for use with this training weapon.

5 of 5 Excellent response time and product. May 14, 2022

I waited a while to review this trainer to see how it fares, and it has held up. When I asked the seller a question, I had a response within a day. Didn't take too long to ship, and arrived in excellent condition. It handles very well, and has survived months of relatively frequent moderate sparring. The only damage is some mild scuffing/scratches on the rubber head and some minor dings in the hickory haft. I was initially a little worried that the lamination wouldn't hold, but it did. In fact, when I pulled it out of the box, I could hardly even tell it was laminated. The rubber head has a good degree of flexibility, but is by no means soft. I would warn against any kind of contact sparring without some protective gear, and even then, thrusts should be pulled just a bit to prevent unnecessary injury.

I have had this weapon for about a week and I love it! I feel like Achilles while wielding this spear. I cannot wait to try it out in some hema sparring matches.
