this katana is probably the most durable synthetic sword I've seen. When I first receive a sword my immediate response was to test its limits by attempting to break it or Bend it or cause some type of damage yet it went above and beyond my expectations. Another thing that is just great about Purple Heart Armory is that it's family-owned and they will help you in whatever situation you're in.

5 of 5 The Best Application Swords April 13, 2018
Reviewer: Bryan Ezawa
These are the best swords for application of techniques: there are moves in haidong gumdo/iaido that require the curve of the sword to execute, which usually means moving to a mokgum/bokken. However, these swords don't splinter, and they can handle more impact than shinai. Excellent swords!

4 of 5 Excellent for Korean Swordfighting February 24, 2018
Reviewer: Nathan Goree
I practice Hwa  Rang Do, and my training partner and I purchased these swords to play with the techniques from our forms in a more dynamic and realistic setting, against each other.  They are excellent, and I am very pleased with how well they work for what we're doing.

The only critique we have is that the plastic on these is extremely slippery, making the swords slide on each other more than any other material we've used.  This is MINOR, and we plan to apply some griptape or something to the edge to mitigate it.

Overall, an excellent sword.  I would recommend this to anyone who wants a realistic trainer for a Japanese or Korean sword.
