It's a light messer and an improvement on the last model. They went with a widened tip vs. the folded tip and the grip now has a kind of pommel. The wood is also nice. The blade is much less beefy than an A&a or Landsknecht Emporium, but it does not hit as hard. This is an excellently made feder - it moves extremely well in the hand, and has a great flex to it for safe sparring. The ring works perfectly well as a nagel, and perhaps the only "downside" to it is that its probably a bit longer than a historical messer might be - it's more around the length of a typical arming sword. Highly recommended.

Purpleheart's typically excellent service had this to me in about a week, and I was fortunate to get ahold of it given how quickly the messer's with nagels went.As for the weapon, it's very well balanced and a great weight for me.
