Woolen hat in the style of Robin Hood with an elongated "beak". Two-color, made of wool.

Woolen hunting cap (also called a “bycocket hat”) is the perfect addition to a medieval outfit, inspired by the style of historical headgear. It has a characteristic, long peak, which emphasizes the uniqueness of the cap and optically lengthens the silhouette. Its lower part is turned up and finished with a wave.

This classic, minimalist cut is suitable for historical hunting, medieval reenactment events or everyday use as an unusual addition to official attire. This hat is suitable for men, women and even children.

Functionality and authenticity make it an excellent choice for medieval archers or as a fashionable addition to official court attire.

The hunting headgear is made of woolen fabric with a linen lining. The turn-up is also woolen, but we can make it from a patterned material.

This type of cap looks best made of two different colors of wool (other base color and other turn-up).

A hunting cap looks best when made of two different colors of wool (different base color and different turn-ups).	This medieval headgear is made of two colors of wool with a linen lining. Wool has hygroscopic properties, absorbs heat and works well both in summer and winter. In summer it isolates high temperatures, and in winter it makes the wearer much warmer.

Historical inspirations

The hunting cap refers to popular headgear depicted in medieval illuminations and paintings, especially in iconography related to hunting and horse riding.Sources for the hunting cap with a crest

Among the sources for this type of headgear, it is worth mentioning the frescoes of Buonamico Buffalmacco, located in the Camposanto Monumentale in Pisa. Among others, the depiction entitled The Triumph of Death from 1330s–1350 shows figures wearing similar headgear. Among them is a figure whose cap has slightly wavy edges.

Overall, the appearance of this cap (two contrasting colours) is very characteristic of the discussed era and can be found, among others, in in the frescoes of Agnolo Gaddi' from the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, dated 1380, or in the frescoes of Ambrogio Lorenzetti from around 1344, located in the so-called Palazzo Pubblico in Siena.
