Jian Synthetic Jian

The Purpleheart Type III Jian was designed to give martial artists an alternative training tool. The guard design lets you train closer to speed and intensity as in real battle.

  • The blade flexes quickly and retains enough stiffness to permit dynamic and vigorous fencing actions with a minimum of unrealistic blade whipping.
  • The durable synthetic material allows a blade thickness half that of most wooden wasters. This allows for a closer approximation of winding with steel weapons. Atthe same time, the blade thickness helps distribute impact force compared to steel blade edges, making for a slightly safer training alternative.
  • These training tools can stand up to years of daily, high impact training. They do not develop splinters like wood, or sawtooth notches like steel.
  • As used by members of the World Jianshu League

Excellent trainer
The materials are sturdy and the weight is what I would expect. No problems. It works as described.

Awesome!!!
The support is top notch! Despite the time difference, responses were super-fast, & most importantly, Christian was super helpful. I would give service 6 outta 5 stars. I believe service support is equally important as the product. The trainer itself, is sturdy & sparring-ready. I liked the weight, & compared to traditional Jians, then the weight is within the range, though on the lower side. That's to be expected due to the material. The "blade" is full tang & goes all the way to the pommel, which is great.Possible areas to improve a) the handle can be made in the traditional curved way b) the edges on the guards are a bit straight, though not sharp, they can be rounded off more. I noticed this as I was swinging it bare-handed, & in gloves you shouldn't notice it. It's a minor thing honestly; you are not supposed to hold the sword close to the guard, but at times, during sparring, your hand can slip & for those rare occasions, it can be a bit of a nuisance & takes getting used to

Amazing trainer sword.
This trainer is absolutely incredible. It's balanced, its well weighted, its incredibly well made. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as i have but let me tell you, this is honestly just so far above the competition for training jians. If you practice Tai Chi like me, or any other art that uses a Jian, don't waste your time on the competition. But this one, seriously you want be dis

Excellent Product
I first tried this trainers as a guest of my friend Chad Eisner. They are excellent for partner-play and competition. The mass distribution offers similar handling to metal Jian and the nylon flexes, allowing for safe thrusts. They are also available with both upswept and down-swept guards. I've used wooden, polymer and composite trainers and while they all have positive characteristics, these on

Good for practice.
Only had an issue with shipping and I think it was the fault of the mail carrier.
