Excellent and sturdy jacket February 8, 2018

Purpleheart is wonderful to work with, the jacket came very quickly and was exactly as advertised. The fit was perfect per the sizing guide.

The jacket itself is excellent, it's obvious why it has become a standard for HEMA protection. The padding is protective without being restrictive. It does get hot rapidly, but that's the cost of thorough protection. I'm using it for Renaissance sidesword, while it may be a bit more protective than sidesword requires, I feel secure that I wouldn't face injury even against opponents with insufficient control. The padding is still significant on the forearm and wrist while being thin enough that even padded gloves have no problem fitting over them. This is a great jacket overall.

Excellent jacket! February 2, 2018

Purpleheart pulled through! Jacket showed up very fast..couldn't be happier with the quality. Still a standard in the community for a reason. Yes the material is stiff but this new version loosens up quickly during fencing and has a great fit. Would recommend everyone have one as a backup in case other brands fail you! This one won't.

excellent protection and mobility January 24, 2018

I just uprgraded to this jacket after a year of fencing in a first generation Lynx jacket and it is absolutely night and day.  I feel safely protected all over and have a great amount mobility all around, most notably being able to execute high guards and attacks without being encumbered.

SPES Axel Jacket January 18, 2018

If I could do one thing it would be to put a heavier zipper on it.  Getting it inserted and started is a tiny challenge. I've had one for over a year. Most of our club uses them and they're great.
