Good value for safety January 9, 2019

So you keep saying you'll get around to making some sort of back-of-the-head protection and it's been a year or more of making do with a piece of an old hard hat that stretches out your mask strap so badly that you're gonna have to fix that too.

I finally broke down and ordered the SPES occipital insert and I'm here to tell you it gets the job done just fine.

There's a video review at this seller's site which goes into detail, but I fought in mind Thursday and it's actually helped the fit of my mask. The only negative I can report is that the Velcro strips meant to look around the tongue of the mask are kind of skimpy - I may stitch a shoelace to that spot to make myself a little happier with that attachment point, but it stayed in place during my first outing in it nonetheless.

Sensibly priced and should work with any conventional mask.

I make sure that all of our club masks are outfitted with back of head protection and these SPES protectors are great.

The Saber Legion September 10, 2018
Reviewer: Eric Baker from Richmond Heights, OH United States
I use this for full contact lightsaber sparring, The Saber Legion. It’d be similar to other full contact weapon sparring, but the instruments are essentially indestructible polycarbonate tubes that make up the blade of the saber. This back of the head protection fits the fencing mask well and feels comfortable. It makes the mask feel more specifically like a helmet, which is also nice.
