The Longsword Trainer “Brevus” is a compact, triple-fullered longsword designed to blend the safety and flexibility of a federschwert with the look and handling of a longsword.
At 50" (127 cm) in total length, the Brevus stands closer to the proportions of many original longswords from the medieval and early Renaissance periods. This more historically faithful size offers increased agility and better control, especially in tighter fencing environments, without compromising reach or presence.
Its triple-fullered blade not only lightens the construction but also improves handling and bind sensitivity — delivering precise feedback while maintaining the resilience needed for regular sparring. The Brevus offers the practical safety and flex of a federschwert but moves, feels, and presents like a longsword.
Perfect for daily training, technical work, or competitive fencing, the Brevus is an elegant fusion of historical accuracy, modern durability, and fencing performance.

Very good initial impressions as far as handling and sparring. It has a great presence in the bind while still being quite agile for cut-arounds, multiple intentions, etc. Very strong blade with an excellent level of flexibility. I’ve had no issues with thrusts landing too hard on anyone, really well balanced and dynamic all around. I’ll be taking it to Chuck Fecht in a couple of weeks to compete with, will give further notes after. Stephen H.
