Hi All,

Those of you who know us, and are following us here on this page. Maybe you have noticed that we are getting a bit more numerous each year. It is of cause lovely to expand so much. The union is living off of its members. But with growing pains comes difficulties. Some need bigger shoes and some a larger belt. For unions it is more about equipment, space and administrative problems. Ullr's Hird is no exception - and we are working hard to better the conditions for our members in any way. One of the things we get back to each year is our wasters. So far we have been making these ourselves out of wood, glue, linen etc. They are expensive, take way too long to produce and break too easily. As we are getting a bit more planet shaped, we have had a hard time producing enough of our them. In Ullr┬┤s Hird we have a principle, that all our old members take the new ones under their wing and use the same kind of wasters as they do. Therefore we are required to build up supply and replace with new ones each year. For quite some time we have had a dream about finding an alternative to our self produced wasters - LARP weapons does not suffice for obvious reasons, and we have therefore chosen to go for a different kind of waster.
We have had dialogue with a lot manufactorers. Our criteria for purchase was of cause that the price was kept at a minimum without affecting quality, that the product was uniform and that they were able to produce an axe which were 80 cm long.
We got a great deal at Purpleheart Armoury. They helped us by making a special production of their axes. They have been very patient througout the whole process, and the service has been superb at all times. We are very excitet to test them out - and should you be in our vicinity within the next few weeks, you are more than welcome to come and test them out yourselves. A more in depth review of them will come in the future Years and Peace.

The materials and quality of the sword are outstanding, however the grip is far too long and does not replicate the correct grip length on originals and properly constructed replicas. This diminishes the potential for proper training with the synthetic sword. 8 out of 10 in my humble opinion.

It's exactly what your wanting. Balance is nicer than some of the curved synthetics. Good weight, good grip, great for beginner sword and buckler, or whatever you need a Viking synth for.

5 of 5 Excellent waster for the price. December 11, 2018

I wasn't sure what to expect when I spent so little for something of this nature, but I was nothing but pleased with the product.  As long as you don't want something fancy, you will be happy with this, as it is simple and rugged in the best of ways.  The only practical fault I could find with it is that it is slightly disbalanced towards the tip of the blade.  This is easily resolved by (super)gluing something like fairly heavy washers to either side of the pommel.  I highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable water on a tight budget.
