I purchased this spadroon trainer about a week ago and waited until it got some use before I reviewed it. It is an incredibly tough trainer with only one flaw in my opinion, which may not bother everyone. It is a little forward heavy for a spadroon, and handles a bit more like a broadsword. If the weight of the blade could be reduced, it would be much more accurate to swords like the 1840 NCO. Aside from that I cannot praise this tool enough. The knuckle guard was one of my first worries, but it is very secure. The sidesword guard included is a perfect simulator of the kidney guard on many, many spadroons. There is enough flex in the blade that a geared-up sparring partner has no worries about taking a thrust. Lastly, the grip wrap is tight and extremely unlikely to become loose with age. If you’re looking for a fun sword to emulate the military sidearms of the 1700s to 1900s, this is a great option!
