SPES Medieval Market Clothing Sir Robert Purpoint

Gambesons are make to order - please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.

Sir Robert Pourpoint is a type of gambeson for all medieval fight lovers, looking for a gambeson made on the basis of the 14th and 15th century iconographic sources depicting combat clothes. Thie medieval gambeson combines good mobility with light weight. This pourpoint was designed especially for medieval fights, like HMB, ACL or SCA events. Sir Robert Pourpoint is closed with 4 leather straps. This solution makes the closing of the gambeson simple and fast. The gambeson is also lightweight and has good mobility. The low weight was achieved by using the new type of filling - woolen felt. Sir Robert Pourpoint has two layers of amortization on the chest area and one layer on the rest of the jacket. Such solution makes our gambeson perfect for any medieval fight. High level of mobility was achieved thanks to a new sleeve pattern - so called “inverted elbow”. That’s why our aketon doesn’t go up and doesn’t hinder the movements during usage.

Pourpoint Sir Robert in historical sources:
The source for this model of medieval fighting pourpoint is stored in Santa Maria Novella church in Florence. In this so-called Spanish chapel, you can find a fresco by Andrea Di Bonaiuto presenting the passion of Christ where one of the horse riders has a yellow gambeson of similar design.
