This wooden training dagger, or rondel, is shown in the Meyer plates and mentioned in other manuals. This is the same type of weapon used by armoured fighters in the manuals of Fiore. The long, strong point can get between joints in armour. It can also be used as a backup weapon to a Shortsword.

The wooden roundels were re-invented by Purpleheart Armoury for WMAW 2000 in Toronto. By studying many of the old drawings and evaluating the simplicity of the historical training equipment, we were able to develop these roundels.

5 of 5 Rondels October 14, 2019
Reviewer: Raven Rivera from Lakewood, Ohio
Each piece is solid, very well crafted, and feels comfortable in hand. The custom engraving was very well done-excellent job on the fine details, especially considering the small size of the image. These rondel trainers are both sturdy, practical training tools, and pieces of art.

Our 16th c. Irish reenactment guild needed a new source for waster training tools, & purpleheart armory delivers. The rondel style feels balanced & solidly constructed. We will enjoy using your product, and trying others in your catalog. Abu!

5 of 5 Ineffective at penetrating anything! February 21, 2019
Reviewer: Peter Weisinger from Salmon Arm, BC Canada
I tried very hard, but could not seem to penetrate mail, a gambeson, or even a simple t-shirt. I think this may be due to the design. It also left me with disappointingly few blisters and absolutely no splinters.

5 of 5 Well made and great for training August 11, 2018
Reviewer: Ryan K. from Pittsburgh, PA United States
One of the very few quality roundel trainers out there.  Made from one solid piece of oak. Durable and well balanced. Works equally well for solo drills and sparring
