5 of 5 Very Nice Blade August 23, 2022
Reviewer: Michele Gulley from Georgetown, KY United States
The blade is quite long and has excellent flex. My only minor complaint is that the cup seems prone to collecting rust. Good sword overall.

2 of 5 Clunky, expensive (V1) February 12, 2022
Reviewer: Matthew from Oakton, VA
The V2 has an updated blade, which is more nimble and flexible without being floppy, largely disregard this review, which is for the V1.
I got mine from a friend, who now uses a Zen Warrior rapier.

The blade has almost no taper, distal or profile, to speak of, it's the same thickness and width the entire way down. In my example, the distal taper is actually uneven, the middle section is thicker than the base section. As such, the blade is super forward heavy, and the super forward heavy blade is balanced out by a super backwards heavy pommel, making the whole thing dead in the hand. The one good thing about this is the cup, it seems durable enough. The grip could be more comfortable.

Overall poor for $300. $200 gets you a Hanwei practical 37" rapier, $215 gets you a Castille economy, and $300 gets you a Kvetun cup hilt with shipping included.

4 of 5 Feels good March 6, 2020

Good balance and weight, the finger rings are big enough that I could fit two fingers in if I wanted. The cup is very sturdy. It’s a little more flexible than I would have liked but it’s fine.

4 of 5 Excellent rapier, great customer service November 14, 2019
Reviewer: Romana Shemayev from Monona, WI United States
First impressions after the assembly and a few fights: An excellent rapier for the money - feels sturdy, handles reasonably well, easy to assemble and disassemble, basic but beautiful.  It is more tip-heavy than I would have liked (especially with an added blunt required by safety regulations in SCA, etc.), however not unmanageable.  As always, great customer service from the Purpleheart Armory team!

5 of 5 Great rapier for an awesome price July 30, 2019
Reviewer: Derek Gilboe from Houston, TX United States
This is the first rapier I've purchased and after looking at the multitude of options from other armories, it was difficult to decide what I really needed. Then I came across this wonderful cup rapier and made the trek up to Purpleheart Armory (PHA) for this (IN STOCK) rapier. The rapier impressed many in my school for its quality and price! It has more flex than some rapiers but remains sufficiently rigid for everything I am doing so far. The weight is perfect for me and lighter than some of the more elegant (aka expensive) rapiers yet equally effective in all scenarios. Not to mention the Purpleheart Armory logo stamped near the hilt! This is a rapier I would definitely recommend to anyone - it has all of the quality of a rapier 2-3 times the price in a nice simple yet effective design. PHA was helpful as well, taking time to answer questions - even the rather dumb ones I came up with. What more can you ask for than a quality weapon from an armory with great service!

4 of 5 VB Rapier May 3, 2019
Reviewer: O from New York
This is one of the finest rapiers I've ever held. The flex is perfect for SCA EK rapier rules and it's high quality enough for HEMA. It's well balanced and it has a light weight for its size, I have a Zen Warrior cup hilt that's 3 inches shorter but still heavier. While I appreciate the simplicity of the design, it would be neat to see a fancier embossed, perforated or even a "Taza" style cup for a bit more money. Seeing as how it was already made, it shipped fast. Similarly high quality weapons may have you waiting weeks while they build them... I would highly recommend these to all those who do rapier, especially Destreza.
