5 of 5 It was a Fantastic Knight April 27, 2023
Reviewer: Emily Crum from Linthicum Heights, MD United States
Staff at Purpleheart Armoury worked with me to make sure the right sword arrived in time. He had tested out multiple sword models, and this feder was best balanced for his height, build, and fighting style. Thank you all, he loves it and it made his knighting ceremony the best ever!

I've had this sword for a few months now and it performs so well in sparring situations. It's incredibly well-balanced and is easy to work with. This sword is definitely worth the price in terms of its quality and durability.

5 of 5 Quick shipment, accommodated special requests October 22, 2021
Reviewer: Paul Kang from Seattle, WA United States
The feder itself is well-balanced -- lively in the hand, and well-suited for drilling and reenactment. As other reviews have stated, the proportions of the blade are somewhere between a feder and a blunt -- there is enough width to the blade to give the impression of a real sword, but its balance is much closer to a feder.

While this sword ships with the signature VB rolled tip -- Purpleheart Armory was graciously able to grind it down to a more aesthetically pleasing rounded tip for no additional cost. Would gladly purchase from them again!

5 of 5 Amazing training sword October 13, 2020
Reviewer: John Beavers from GALESBURG, MI United States
This sword exceeded my expectations. I typically use an Albion Liechtenauer Feder but I wanted to try something new. This sword is just terrific. The handle is essentially the same length as my Albion, which I like, and this allows me to make quick movements with good control. The blade is significantly shorter, and so am I, so I have found the Albion blade to be a bit long for me with changing posta's.
The price of this sword cannot be beat. It is less expensive than some of the other training swords that do not exceed the quality of this one in my opinion. My one complaint, not really a complaint, is that the tip is folded over. I would like it to come as an unfolded tip. If this was offered in the future, I would buy another one. Great sword. It is standing up to a beating. I use it weekly with my Fiore training group.

5 of 5 Steel Techniques Feder Hand and a Half August 30, 2020
Reviewer: Steven from Tampa, FL United States
I bought this sword for long sword practice in my local HEMA group. It is a medium stiffness and doesn't hit too hard when cutting. Handle is wood over leather and the wood core is recessed for the seam. I was confused at first about what exactly what is different between this Techniques feder and the two available for $199. Now that I own both I can tell you it's much more than just a different cross guard. The blade is a little shorter and has a much longer fuller. The handle is a little longer. It also weighs slightly less.

It is an excellent training tool. I have fenced with it a few times, it holds up well so far. If you want a blunt/ feder that is shaped much more like a historical sharp sword this is an excellent choice that is hard to beat and is worth the extra $46 over the standard versions. The standard versions are very good too but, personally I like the shorter blade and longer handle on this one. The cross guard is very nice on this one also at 11 inches wide roughly.

5 of 5 Feder or Blunt? May 28, 2020
Reviewer: Michael Graham from Conestoga, PA United States
This is an interesting feder. Its blade length, grip length, and lack of a schilt would suggest it is a blunt, but its uniform blade thickness, mild flex, and rolled tip suggest it is a feder. This is something in between and I was interested in this because I believe that many modern feders have gone too far from their historic representations with some feders resembling zweihanders more so than a longsword. This budget feder very much resembles the tools used in Fiore’s manuscripts, much more so than any other feders I have seen.
The construction seems solid enough and the steel is of a good balance between flex and rigidity. I wouldn’t expect to be able to use this in a tournament, but I am far more interested in Fiore’s sword art being reconstructed with detail rather than competitive HEMA personally.
