The pants are great except for one small thing i overlooked. It European sizes not American. I ordered the XXL (42") and they are too small. lol. i cant fault anyone but myself. So i will try and find bigger ones.

4 of 5 good basic pair of pants for fencing. November 7, 2016
Reviewer: Matthew Sennett from Bel Air, MD United States
These are good basic pants I wear while fencing.  I make several modifications to them, such as adding loops at the knees to tie on knee pads, replacing the suspenders with webbing to clip better suspenders on, and adding a Velcro flap to the zipper to keep it closed.

5 of 5 Good basic fencing pants August 26, 2016
Reviewer: Matthew Sennett from Bel Air, MD United States
These are good sturdy pants.  I usually don't bother with the added padding they put in the hips.  I'm fairly short and the elastic isn't firm enough to hold them up as securely as I want without stretching it to its limit.  I usually cut the elastic suspenders off and use some normal clip on suspenders instead.  Loops can also be sews on easily at the knees to allow you to tie on the Spes knee protectors.  These changes take 5 min with a standard sewing machine.
In all these pants are good option for new people starting out who want a basic pair of fencing pants without spending the extra money on the heavier options.

4 of 5 Great buy for the money! May 11, 2016
Reviewer: Jon Chouinard from Federal Way, WA United States
I just got these pants a few weeks ago, and so far I love them.  They're comfortable, fit true to size, and after several training/sparring sessions seem quite durable.  The padding is adequate; not so much that it slows down your footwork.  You'll want to supplement with more armor for full sparring, though.  My only complaint is the suspenders; they tend to slip down over the shoulders, which can impede your arm movements - something you definitely don't want in the heat of a sparring match!  Since there's no way to remove them (short of cutting them off), I just tuck them inside the pants, which fit well enough on my waist that they don't really sag or fall down.  Considering how they're quite a bit less expensive than most other options out there, I think they're well worth the money.  And of course, Purpleheart's customer service is excellent; the order shipped fast, and all communications were prompt and informative.  Definitely a great place to shop for all your HEMA needs!

3 of 5 Not bad May 10, 2016
Reviewer: Alexander Meloi from Matamoras, PA United States
They fit tighter than what I expected from the guidelines and they are also high waisted so if you have any sort of gut you probably need to jump up a size- the cost is good and the material seems strong and rated 350N I believe- not much padding
