Among the sources for this type of headgear, it is worth mentioning the frescoes of Buonamico Buffalmacco, located in the Camposanto Monumentale in Pisa. Among others, the depiction entitled The Triumph of Death from 1330s–1350 shows figures wearing similar headgear. Among them is a figure whose cap has slightly wavy edges.
Overall, the appearance of this cap (two contrasting colours) is very characteristic of the discussed era and can be found, among others, in in the frescoes of Agnolo Gaddi' from the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, dated 1380, or in the frescoes of Ambrogio Lorenzetti from around 1344, located in the so-called Palazzo Pubblico in Siena.
