The protector is designed to be worn under the fencing jacket.
It is based on already known historical principles. Movable armhole segment is attached to the chest protector. This approach provides better freedom of movement and together with the double reinforcement improve your protection! The slightly arched shape helps to distribute the energy of the hit. The energy won’t be transferred directly into your body.
The protector is not a cuirass!!! It does not cover belly!!!
A.T. From Ohio: They are tight fitting enough with a low profile that allows them to be worn under the jacket. Now the reason as to why my club does so? It's simply born out of convenience of doing light training exercises without a jacket but still wearing the protection, and then being able to quickly put on a jacket once moderate/heavy training starts.
