We are now shipping Type Ia.  Still with the attractive steel guard, we have changed the design in order to reduce the weight to 2lb 12oz. We also added an inch to the grip for greater control.                    

1. Black industrial plastic that has been thoroughly tested for strength and longevity and an impressive look.
2. Our exclusive wrap around metal guard allows the swordsman to put his thumb on the side of the guard.
3. Steel pommel that gives the blade incredible balance and feel.  The overall weight and balance is exactly the same as many historical Longswords of the 15th century.
4. Professional grip wrap for a good solid feel to the blade.

Training PPE Recommendation:  Always have proper training and supervision.  This blade is solid and can hit hard.  Depending on your speed and intensity will determine what personal protection you will need.  A mask and padded gloves are the minium.  As you go harder or if you are a beginner, all joint protection will be needed including a gorget.
