Impact Grade Hickory Heavy Canne, Knob Handle, and Rubber Tip $50
39"(1m) - 15 oz(0.42kg).
The shaft is solid impact grade hickory and tapers from 1" to 3/4".  The knob is made out of a reddish-brown hardwood called Jatoba.  This is a very strong cane and one of our best sellers. This is the choice by many for
training in Bartitsu - the Lost Martial Art of Sherlock Holmes by E.W. Barton-Wright

Here is a great review by Craig Geminer - Link

The "heavy" canne would be ideal for most Bartitsu training purposes and would make a very reliable "carry" cane as well.  Optimal use IMO would be in solo drills, full-contact bag work and controlled partner work;  these are substantial canes indeed.
Purpleheart's lighter rattan cannes, especially those with rubber ball handles, are eminently suitable for Bartitsu-style sparring and fencing, plus neo-Bartitsu self defense improv drills, always assuming proper "armour".
Thanks again to Purpleheart!"   - Tony Wolf

1-1/8" Diameter x 39" Long

Hickory Cane $25
39"(1m) - 10oz(0.28kg)
This is our standard LaCanne training cane.  Its 3/4" round and made of 2 layers of impact grade hickory laminated together. This give it extra strength due to the interlocking grain of the wood.
The hickory is stiffer and heavier than the rattan which provides good feedback to your techniques.  Its best for light or moderate contact training.   You can choose a jatoba or hickory knob.

Rattan Canne $30
39"(1m) - 8oz(0.23kg)
Our Rattan
canne is lighter, and more flexible than the hickory. So it is able to take a greater level of contact and absorb some of the impact on your opponent during training.  Best for moderate sparring with appropriate safety gear.  Rattan is naturally a vine, so please don't expect it to be a perfectly straight material.

Extra Heavy Canne with Rubber Tip $50
39"(1m) - 17oz(0.48kg)
So based on your feedback we took it a step further.  Combining our 1"  three layer laminated staves we put a knob on the end of it. This is the same hickory that takes 570 pounds of pressure in our testing before breakage (See our stave page for that test). The weight is near the Heavy Canne, but because it does not have the taper, it has a different balance.

Rattan Sparring Cane with Rubber Head and Rubber Bottom Tip $36
Heavier is 37" long - 15oz (0.4kg). The lighter version is 9oz (0.25kg) Weight and diameter will vary with the rattan.

This is our latest product that our friend Tony Wolf came up with.  Its made of thicker (apx 1"/25.4mm) rattan. We attached our custom rubber blunt to the end with a strong steel strap.  From Tony: "
For regular Bartitsu training, canes like the one I put together are almost ideal - 36" straight rattan with rubber blunts standing in for the ball handles and a regular rubber stopper at the other end. They can be used in sparring without having to armor up too much, in striking drills against heavy bags, etc. and are light and flexible enough for almost all pre-arranged and improvised self defense drills, etc. Plus the fact that the Vigny cannes used at the original Bartitsu School were made of rattan." Hello, I’m writing to thank you and to tell you that our Vigny sticks have been delivered last Friday. We had a go with them during a two-hours light training session yesterday. We are very happy with your sticks: they feel solid, simple and efficient, and I guess that their three-part assembly will keep them straight through their life-time. I just had to sand one of them to remove a splinter before use, but I must say hickory wood is very pleasant. Pleasant and strong: no mark could be seen after a bit of light sparring (or better still, it looks more resistant to impacts than oak or ash). We did not dare use them full force yet, for our fingers’ sake, but I’m confident they will meet up our needs. The Australian Geimener Academy’s piece of advice was good: they are great training tools.  Best regards, R. Paris, France

got the stick just now, thanks very much. You guys do great work. Will refer you some customers for sure. thanks- BW

All the sticks were great, but the heavyweight hickory stick just stole the show- A+ !!!  C.A. Houston, TX

I have no martial art training, my interest as a 61 year old is an efficient means of self defence provided ny knowledge and practice in using the stick.  Your extra heavy canne proved surprisingly fast and responsive in the vigny-lang exercises and Cunningham techniques, particularly the double guard where the balance is achieved by an untapered shaft made cuts from either hand easier to achieve. It is also suitable for the new efficient and economical cane system devised by Michael Janich where the end of the shaft and its tip are the main parts used.  Peter Newton
