Also called La Canne, our Hickory Canne is a more historic design that is a bit heavier, stiffer, and stronger than the Rattan. Its strength delivers accurate feedback to your cane training.

The cane has long been a functional tool that has served a variety of purposes, most commonly as a walking stick. Its practicality led it to being picked up as an easy-to-use self-defense weapon. The 1800s to early 1900s saw several fencing masters put together systems which included the cane among other weapons. From these, two styles evolved - a self-defense system called Bartitsu and a sport called Canne de Combat. Bartitsu was developed by Edward William Barton-Wright, who had a gentleman named Pierre Vigney serve for him as an instructor of cane fighting. Vigney was responsible for altering the traditional French stick fighting techniques to be better suited to the cane.

I expected the cane to be thicker in diameter, but it is still a really nice walking stick. I would personally prefer one that is substantially heavier and thicker for striking but this one is still nice.
