Currently the best HEMA jacket on the market. January 23, 2017

I own a SPES AP jacket as well, and while Hussar is heavier, the weight distribution of the jacket on to the hips via the belt in the back instead of the entirely on the shoulders makes the jacket feel lighter on the body.  The integrated forearm protection and elbow cup have allowed me to forego using SPES arm guards, and as such have made movements to weak-side ochs (I'm right-handed) much easier. It's also much easier to wash, and dries quicker than the SPES AP jacket.

The foam padding inserts are somewhat useless, and make the jacket a bit too hot as they are not breathable, and  purchasers would probably be better served in those areas if they were light-weight kydex hard plates instead.

Overall, having experienced offerings from Neyman and Leon Paul as well as other SPES jackets, in my opinion this jacket is the best bang for the buck in terms of protection and performance.

Fits Great December 8, 2016

I'm very happy with this jacket.  It moves well, it fits great, and there are a lots of customizations you can make to the jacket so that it's an even better fit for your needs.  I also like that it has so much "built in" such as the forearm protection and the elbow pads.  While everybody was suiting up in practice, adding piece after piece, I was able to put on my jacket and found myself ready to go.

I'm still in my first year of HEMA so I may not appreciate all there is to admire about the jacket yet; however, I will say that the jacket does seem a bit "overkill" especially if you're shopping on a budget (this one is around twice what others cost.)  That said, I'm very pleased with it all in all, and I'm optimistic that the investment will pay off in the long run with this being a durable and lasting piece of protection.

Too much July 5, 2016

Firstly, the jacket is well contructed.

That said it weighs about 10lbs. The extra pads in the forearms make getting a glove on next to impossible. The adjustable wrist straps are useless and the cut of the jacket is so wide that it feels like you're swimming in it.

The features of the Hussar are nice but overkill. The removable/ customizable pads make an already stiff jacket feel you're wearing plate armor.

This item feels more like something suitable to harness fencing. In no way does it simulate being unarmoured.
