I first had the pleasure of using the Pentti Type III Synthetic Longsword at my local HEMA club.
No other synthetic I've handled feels nearly as realistic as the Pentti III! This excellently crafted practice weapon comes in both longsword and "Federschwert" blade variants. The blade has the perfect amount of flex and rigidity across the blade from forte to foible, and is very durable.
The sword is balanced exactly where it should be, and the pommel is very comfortable to the hand. The quillons (crosspiece) are very sturdy, and give the protection one expects of a longsword. In addition, the overall proportions and weight of the piece are a very good approximation of the historical weapon.
In summary, after hours of time spent using the Pentti III, I decided to buy my own. I've seen and handled many of the other offerings for synthetic longswords, but in my mind there is no substitute or equal to the Pentti III. It is in a class by itself!
