SPES Lobster Heavy Gloves Version 1.0 - Pair

The SPES Heavies are designed to protect your hands from injury during training in historical fencing. These gloves provide full coverage for all five fingers in a lobster design.

The pockets are separated into a thumb slot, index and middles finger slot, and ring and pinkie fingers slot.

Thanks to these heavy gloves, training with heavy weapons, feders, and dussacks is much safer.

See Sizing tab for more information.

  • The outside part of the palm and fingers are protected by the overlapping plastic elements made of polypropylene. Polypropylene has high resistance to cracking, which guarantees a higher durability.
  • The 11cm fabric cuff is reinforced by six plates covered with leather in order to protect the wrist bones.
  • A leather belt with buckle enables manual adjustment of the glove at the wrist for a better fit.

Fantastic service June 10, 2017
Reviewer: Nicholas Baldwin from Baltimore, MD United States
This order was the second time I bought from Purple Heart, and have since placed another order. With both my first and my third order, customer service was incredible. I even made personal errors on the orders (sorry again!) and it was always resolved with zero issues. The employees were beyond professional and the company as a whole certainly cares about their customers, and the spirit of the localized HEMA community. I will always buy from Purpleheart if I can.

Very well designed June 1, 2017

they take some breaking into and they are a bit bulky but their protection is top notch and i still have some mobility. I'd say there is one too many panels on the wrist guard makes  a very large flair out and they can be a little bit cumbersome but i think the only better way will be to have a jointed gauntlet. Ultimately i'd recommend these to anyone wanting to start acquiring their own gear.

Exceptional Gloves May 26, 2017

By far these are the best on the market for the price.  I would advise extending the thumb protection another inch around the thumb, as the outside of the thumb (all the way down to the wrist) remains severely under protected when the wrist is rotated 45 degrees clockwise..

Perfect gloves for longsword sparring May 18, 2017
Reviewer: Joseph Keenan from Austin, TX United States
Excellent coverage, flexible enough grip. Takes some breaking in, but once you get used to them they feel like a second skin. Note that the ninja turtle style finger dividers makes you adjust to a proper, more dextrous grip (not clutching like a hammer). Great service, replaced an order with no hassle.
