Fits in the mask perfectly, great fit on the head May 19, 2016

Goes on easy and adds great protection to the back of the head.  It also helps the fit of the mask and makes your head feel more secure.

Exceeded my expectations April 29, 2016

Light, strong, and does everything it's supposed to.  Since the back of the head protector is actually made of rigid plastic it stands up well (didn't realize it was going to be as strong as it is).  Also as a side benefit it tends to keep your mask more stable from lateral blows (due to its rigid structure).

SPES Occipital Overlay April 16, 2016
Reviewer: Joshua Langille from Ottawa, ON Canada
+Comes down to cover the first part of the spinal column
+Fits well into the mask (I have a medium)
+straps in tightly and securely
+Makes the mask fit a little tighter
+Protects well against light to medium hits
+Comfortable against the head
+Much cheaper than full mask overlays

-Will not protect against a direct thrust very well (If someone is thrusting at the back of your head you have more serious problems)

I was a little wary of purchasing this since I read a few reviews that said it was too large for their masks. I haven't had this problem as it fits very well into mine. Tested it by having my brothers hit the back of my head with my spear shaft and I could barely feel a thing. Since it's not an overlay a blade could sneak in through the gap between the mask and the protector. Like I said above though a sparring mate that is willing to do that to you is more of a problem than the lack of protection.
