Description Technical Specs History

A Rudis was a gift to a gladiator for a special achievement. This signified his release from a slave to a freeman. Our Rudis is an excellent and unique give for someone who has completed service in the military, retired, or completed an academic achievement.
Rudis can be engraved with corporate logo, military insignia and/or text in many different fonts. We have done Greek Paddles, like Alpha Epsilon Pi and others. One set was for a group of bestmen for a wedding. See below for engraving examples of our extensive military insignia catalog. You may email your .jpg insignia file and engraving text to us at cd@woodenswords.com.

HOW TO ORDER: For text only, you may enter the text in the box above. Then choose the option for "back side engraving" Military customers using the discount code may have engraving on the second side for no additional charge. For graphics or additional engraving information, email us at cd@woodenswords.com

Make a statement without saying a word May 7, 2013

I've been working with Christian for about a year and a half now with enough swords to equip a small army. These awards are simply amazing- you can't do any better in creating a unique recognition piece that is a great conversation starter. Those that own one love it; those that don't aspire to.

Simply The Best! September 25, 2012
Reviewer: T Kowalsky from Washington, DC United States
Let me say, I ordered one of these for a departing colleague, and worked with Christian Darce via email to coordinate the details.  I had both sides inscribed with words and logos/images, and Christian was very easy to work with, fast with replies and proofs, and very accommodating.

Then the product arrived.  Simply put: amazing.  Photos absolutely do not do this justice.  The sword itself is a fantastic memento for any departing colleague or to recognize an achievement.  But with inscriptions along the blade - quality of that work was fantastic - that made this such a special and touching gift or award.  You also receive a write-up explaining the history of the Rudis, something fit to use during an award ceremony.

Trophies, plates, plaques, pen holders, engraved flasks - those are all swell and dandy.  However if you want something really unique, something that will burn into the memory of the recipient, I can honestly say you will not find anything more unique than this.
