Knightshop Xtreme Messer

During the German Late Middle Ages and Renaissance (14th to 16th centuries), the Messer was a term for the class of single-edged bladed weapons, deriving from the medieval falchion and preceding the modern sabre. The Messer was part of the curriculum of several fencing manuals in the 14th and 15th centuries, including Lecküchner, Codex Wallerstein and Albrecht Dürer. The interchangeable guard features a nagel and can be easily changed for right or left handed people.

The Lightweight Messer Blade has been developed in response to feedback from the global HEMA community. It is noticeably lighter than the standard Messer blade and is constructed from a slightly softer blend of plastic which has a little more give on impact and makes for a softer thrust. This allows for safer sparring than with the previous heavier and harder blades.

A solid affordable option February 26, 2016

Great product. Only reason I gave it a four is for some it's known issues as a sparing blade.
1. It's thicker than a steel blade
2. It's lighter
3. It's difficult to realistically simulate bind and other technics due to the slippery plastic edge.
