Dierk Hagedorn and Bartłomiej Walczak
Volume 4 of the library of historical martial arts
Lost in the Second World War, partially recovered, auctioned in several items, dispersed in all winds, dived again in America, more recently rediscovered in New Haven as part of the Paul Mellon Collection of the Yale Center for British Art: the Gladiatoria fencing book has undergone a changeful history ,
This volume offers the color reprint of the earliest representative of the so-called Gladiatoria Group, a select specimen of the highest artistic and historical value.
Our authors Dierk Hagedorn and Bartlomiej Walczak have put the plates in the original order and their texts have been carefully transcribed and then translated into modern German and English.
The panels are supplemented by expert articles on the history of the GLADIATORIA group in particular, fencing books in general, as well as the weapons and armor used in the illustrations.
Of course these chapters are also German / English, so that the handwriting is accessible to an international audience.
Anyone who is passionate about medieval martial arts, weapons and armor will be an indispensable treasure trove in this book.

Format 16.3 x 23 cm, bound, 392 pages, 107 color illustrations, German / English edition
